Amstel Church

The Amstel Church, also known as ìOur Lord in the Attic,î is an intriguing Amsterdam attraction. The museum is on the oldest in the city. From the outside it is a house in appearance, but hidden in the attic is the Amstel Church that was built during the Reformation that prevented Catholics from holding public services. Today, the church features galleries, a large altar and seating for about 150 worshipers. The rest of the museum boasts period rooms from the 17th and 19 Centuries, paintings, sculptures and silver in all of which encompass Catholic history in Amsterdam. Activities and exhibitions for the public are hosted on an ongoing basis.
