Haarlem - Grote Markt (central market square)
The Grote Markt of Haarlem is the cultural and historical center of the Netherland's city. The large square features several old buildings including the city hall. Also nearby stands the statue of the Dutch inventor of book pressure art, Laurens Jan son Coster. During the Middle Ages, the square served as the town's market. Today it is filled with shops and restaurants, including a McDonald's. Visitors also have plenty of places to choose from to enjoy a fine Netherland's beer. The Grote Markt is an ideal destination for guests who want a pleasant place to relax. While Haarlem doesn't sport the attractions of nearby Amsterdam, it is considered a good ěhome baseî for travelers exploring the country.
